What started out as a high school pen pal assignment blossomed into Mr. & Mrs. After a small and intimate spring wedding in Burlington, Lillian + Sebastian then traveled to New York City with their families, who were coming together for the first time.
From the Photographer: A breathtaking Thursday afternoon with amazing Spring trees in full bloom was the setting for this love story. Lillian and Sebastian chose to have their little wedding in charming Downtown Burlington, Iowa at the quaint Majestic Estate Venue. This location is one of my favorites. It’s a historically renovated church that sits on top of a hill in Downtown Burlington. The garden on the west side is overflowing with character and beauty as it secretly sits within the side of the hill. The surrounding area is bursting with charisma perfect for portraits. This day, in particular, was set against the most incredible Spring setting as the Dogwoods were in full bloom on Burlington’s famous Snake Alley. The only thing better then this serene day was the romantic love story that went along with it. Lillian and Sebastian’s story goes back a decade to when they were both in High School but many miles apart. Lillian lived in Iowa and was assigned to write to a pen pal for her Spanish class. Little did she know at the time, her life would be changed forever as that initial communication is what eventually blossomed into years of friendship and love between the couple. After many travels seeing each other, an unbreakable bond was made that led Sebastian to propose to Lillian while she was visiting him in Chile. He popped the question during a trip to the top of the Sky Costanera building, the tallest building in South America.
Lillian’s wedding inspiration was the Country Roses China they used for their intimate reception. Her Great Grandmother gave them to Lillian’s mother every year for Christmas throughout her childhood. The ceremony and reception was very personal and only had about 25 guests. The lighting was set low and romantic and the room was full vintage decor and touches of travel. Since Sebastian’s family traveled all the way from Chile to be at the wedding, Lillian and Sebastian knew they wanted to take a trip with both sides of theirs families. After the wedding day, they all took a trip to New York City. Lillian and Sebastian agreed that was one of the most special parts of their wedding was having both of their families together for the first time. They both love to travel and are planning on taking a Honeymoon to Europe in the near future.Brandy Swartz Photography
